Long known in Japan for its simple but classic design, the oroshigane growing in popularity as an alternative to the Western grater. Traditionally used to grate daikon radish, the oroshigane grater's popular use extends to carrots, citrus and potatoes. The high quality aluminum construction features raised teeth on one side of the grater so that ingredients will not slip through to the other side, allowing you to use 100% of your ingredients while minimizing cleaning time. This unique design makes the grater ideal for grating ginger as the teeth crush the root to release more flavor and juice while catching tough fibers. Teeth grate on all sides, so for best results we recommend that you grate ingredients in a circular motion.
